Why should the company hire you?

Going for an interview may give you the feeling of having butterflies on your stomach so what more when you get asked, “Why are you the right person for this job?”  The HR manager wants to know why you are the right person to hire among other candidates.

The HR manager wants to ensure that you truly understand what they are looking for in a candidate and that you have the ability to show dedication in your work and you stand that there are always more you can do to make yourself better.

As a candidate, your goal is to sell yourself to the HR manager. You have to convince the interviewer that you are a remarkable candidate and the best option that they could have.

How to respond to the question “Why are you the right person to hire for this job?”

Prepare and Anticipate – Before the interview, think carefully what the interviewer wants to know about you. Highlights your abilities and skills more than your experience. Anticipate the possible questions that the interviewer may ask.

Provide examples – Being precise is very important when answering questions. When you are pointing out your skills and personalities, make sure to provide specific proofs that you really have those set of skills and how you will apply them to be the kind of employee you want to become in the company.

Focus on what you can contribute to the company – Make sure to have the background knowledge about the company you are applying for. Concentrate on how you will add value to the company.

Never compare yourself to others- Each individual is different and unique. Never put down other candidates, it may have negative impact on you and you may sound arrogant. Instead, focus on what makes you unique as a person without offending other candidates. Make them feel that you are the right candidate and will be a remarkable worker that they should be proud of when you join in their company.
